Freezer Sheet Labels
Freezer sheet labels are the ones you print yourself, on your own laser or inkjet, when the wording changes too often to be worth a press run. Dates, batch codes, contents, a name on a meal prep container. The sheet comes from us already rated for the freezer; what goes on it is up to you.
What makes a sheet label a freezer label
The adhesive, mostly. An ordinary sheet label from an office supplier uses a general-purpose adhesive that needs a warm dry surface, so on a frozen bag it never forms a bond at all and it is on the floor of the cabinet by morning. Ours is FDA approved and food-grade, it applies down to −20 °F, which means it will key to packaging that is already frozen, and it holds to −60 °F once it is on.
Then the facestock, which is your choice of three. Plain paper is the economical option for a dry freezer and short-term use. Coated paper is tougher and takes handling better. White vinyl is the one to pick where there is frost, condensation or anything wet, because it absorbs nothing at all and stays legible when a paper label would have gone soft.
Four die shapes, a lot of sizes
Our freezer sheet labels come in four basic shapes, in three materials (two paper, one vinyl):
- LR, round corner rectangle. The widest range of sizes, from one large label per page down to dozens of one inch squares.
- LS, square corner rectangle. The same range with a sharper look.
- LC, round circle. For jar lids, tubs and anywhere a rectangle looks wrong.
- SS, special shape. Cut to a die you need rather than one we happen to stock.
If you are not sure which size you want, how to measure a label is the quickest way to work it out, and free samples will settle it properly: put one on your own pack in your own freezer for a fortnight.
Print your own, or have us print them
Blank sheets suit anything that changes: a commercial kitchen dating prep containers, a farm shop packing to order, a lab or a stockroom coding batches. They run through a standard laser or inkjet printer with no special equipment.
Where the artwork is settled and you want full colour, we print it on our own press in Henderson instead, and there are no minimums either way. Plenty of customers use both, a printed label for the branded range and blanks for everything dated by hand. See our sheet labels for the full range, or freezer labels for how the cold-chain side of it works.
