Freezer Labels
A freezer label has an ordinary job in a difficult place. It has to carry your branding and your small print, and it has to do that on packaging that frosts, sweats, gets handled with wet hands and spends its life below zero. Most labels are not built for any of that, which is why they end up in the bottom of the cabinet.
What makes a freezer label a freezer label
Two things, and the adhesive is the one people get wrong. A freezer-grade adhesive is not simply one that survives the cold; it is one that will still form a bond on a surface that is already frozen. Ours is FDA approved and food-grade, it applies down to −20 °F, and it holds to −60 °F once it is on. A standard permanent adhesive needs a warm dry surface, so on a frozen carton it never keys at all and the label is off before the pallet is wrapped.
The other is the facestock. There is water at every stage of a freezer, and paper drinks it, swells and cockles until the print goes with it. Synthetic stock takes on nothing, so the label that goes in is the label that comes out. How freezer labels work takes both apart properly, and pick your adhesive covers the full range.
