Choose Your Material & Sizing

Given the ever-expanding consumer market, label application demands keep growing more complex and diverse. Many products require their own custom labeling solutions. Here at Etiquette Systems, we offer a number of options to ensure that our labels are fully compatible with your products. We can put together custom labels consisting of whichever combination of label materials works best for you, while taking your budgetary, regulatory, and contractual needs fully into account.

We can supply labels composed of:

  • Paper, with matte, gloss, or semi-gloss finishes.
  • Plastics, including polyester, polypropylene, bi-axle oriented polypropylene (BOPP), polyolefin, and vinyl.
  • A number of other materials, in a wide variety of colors.

We offer the following types of label adhesives:

  • Permanent – designed to stay affixed for the life of the product.
  • Removable – easily removed after application from almost any surface, including textiles, cardboard, and glass.
  • All Temp – offering extra stickiness for a broad temperature range.
  • Freezer – designed to be applied and remain affixed at sub-zero temperatures.
  • Repositionable – can be placed on a surface, removed, and reapplied without tearing or warping the label.
  • With the right pairing of substrate and adhesive, we can supply labels that can adhere to almost any surface, whether natural or artificial, under most environmental conditions—indoors or out. We also offer a number of specialty adhesives, as well as the option to print labels without adhesives (i.e., tags).

A Little About Liners

You might not give much thought to the release liner that backs your self-adhesive labels, except as something you’re going to end up throwing away. But they’re an important ingredient in any successful labeling solution. After all, you need a backing that holds onto the adhesive hard enough to let you store and handle your labels easily, but that won’t resist when the label is peeled off—whether by human or machine.

The precise thickness and type of release liner we use depends on the adhesive and substrate involved, but liners tend to be made of a tough, tear-resistant paper coated with a thin layer of silicone to protect the adhesive and allow easy, quick application at a variety of speeds. This is an especially important consideration when dealing with high-speed machine application.

So the next time you peel a label off its backing, take a look at the liner. That slick, shiny surface is the silicone layer, just in case you were wondering!
